Basic Information
Ben's Hens has been offering Beyond Organic Pasture-Raised Goose since 2020. Since day one, our goal has been to provide a real, whole, quality, and nutrient-dense Goose. We are still working through different iterations to determine what works best to raise Meat Geese at 7,200 feet elevation. The cost of baby geese is very high and hatching rate is very low. Therefore, we only get a few geese each year to work with. It has been a challenge to get consistent numbers because our sample size is so low. but we are confident that we will eventually get the Goose we set out to produce. In the meantime, we have been successful with using Geese as guards and protectors of our other poultry.
The breed of Goose we choose to raise for meat is the Embden.
We practice Regenerative Agriculture and choose to Pasture-Raise all of our Geese. As we move them through the pastures, they deposit poop. This feeds the soil, and in return, the pastures give back beautiful grasses and vegetation. We are working with nature to build soil. In other words, we are Soil Farmers.
Base Value Information
Value = Represents the fundamental, intrinsic worth of our products based on their ability to generated future benefits and utility for the accepter. Correlates to the redemption of points from your Member Balance.
Because of our 7,200 ft altitude and what we choose to feed them, we require an extra 2 weeks of growth time compared other Pasture-Raised Goose. This requires more feed and labor.
The Base Value is based on the cost to produce one 6 lb Standard Whole Goose at 12 / lbs.
Therefore, the following would be the expected Value of 1 Standard Whole Goose at the listed weight.
5.5 lbs | 66
6 lbs | 72
6.5 lbs | 78
The following options increase the Base Value by 1 / lbs. This option is generally only available for those who requested different packaging styles with their Preorder.
Pieced: Goose is cut into separate pieces but packaged together as one.

Feed Information
We seek a diversity in what our Geese eat; therefore, the feed we supply is a combination of Whole Grains, Seeds, Mash, Vitamins, and Minerals.
We offer one feed option for Goose.
Ben's Hens Standard
If we every receive enough demand, we will consider the following. We would need at least 12 to be Preordered.
Corn Free / Soy Free (Preorder only)
For in-depth feed information, click the Feed button below.
Availability
Meat Geese are only available to those who Preorder. Geese are expensive to produce. If conditions work in our favor to allow our Geese to naturally hatch Goslings, then we will offer them. If we do end up raising some Meat Geese, they would become available in August 2026. If you would like to reserve a Goose, please talk with us about Preordering. Until then, check with Ben Jackson to see if there are any Goose products currently in our freezers. The chance is very, very low, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Until we have the demand for Corn Free / Soy Free Goose, we do NOT offer this option.
In the meantime, click the button below to view what is currently available in our freezers. This will open a Google Sheet in a new browser window.
